About Us
Angus Lyons studied and learnt the trade as an apprentice in the late 1980’s, under one of Australia’s leading wood turners, Anthony Hansen. After leaving Anthony, he himself became a professional turner supplying galleries including Bungendore Woodworks, Tilba Tilba and various other Australian wood galleries. He has been turning, on and off, since that time.
Patricia has been doing administration also since the late 1980’s, assisting in running various business, from a successful glazier and home renovation business to a storage company, shopping centre management and more.
We were married in Sydney, Australia, in 2004 and moved to Albury, in southern New South Wales, shortly after. We have 2 children and various animals, including dogs, guinea pigs and chickens.
After buying a block of land, and building a house and large shed, in Jindera, the family moved in, Christmas 2016. Shortly after, in early 2017, Lyons Woodturning was officially “re-birthed”.
Lyons Woodturning aims to use recycled timber wherever possible, sometimes using old farm redgum fenceposts, salvaged timber and generally timber that otherwise would be burnt in someone’s bon fire. We also try to not throw any timber out, by using off cuts from larger jobs for smaller items and even giving our wood shavings to local property owners for their chickens & injured animals.
We have general products for sale as well as doing custom work, made to order. Visit our retail shop for our products or contact us with your job requirements, both large and small, to discuss what we can do for you. (Wholesale enquiries are welcome. Please contact Patricia on 0416 061 770).
